BUTUAN CITY—The Information Systems (IS) Day 2024, held on December 12, 2024, was a resounding success, uniting students, faculty, and staff for a day of learning, competition, and celebration. From the thought-provoking symposium in the morning to the high-energy games and vibrant social night, the event highlighted the talent, teamwork, and unity of the IS community.
The day commenced with the “SMART FUTURE: AI at the Crossroads of Possibility” Symposium, where industry experts and educators explored emerging trends in information systems, technology, and digital transformation. Dr. Christopher C. Abalorio, one of the keynote speakers, emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, stating, “AI is not merely a tool; it is a catalyst that challenges us to innovate, adapt, and redefine the boundaries of what is possible in the digital age.” Attendees engaged in insightful discussions on cybersecurity, AI, and data management, gaining valuable perspectives on the ever-evolving technological landscape.
As the day progressed, the spirit of friendly competition came alive with the Mobile Legends tournament and basketball games. The e-sports competition saw teams demonstrate strategic skills and teamwork in the popular Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game, while the basketball court became an arena of athleticism and sportsmanship. These activities not only showcased participants’ mental and physical agility but also fostered camaraderie and school spirit.
As night fell, the Social Night transformed the venue into a dazzling celebration of unity and creativity. Music, dance, and performances filled the air, allowing students and faculty to unwind, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories. The event culminated in the Awards Ceremony, where outstanding individuals and teams were recognized for their achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.
