The Capitol in Butuan City was transformed into a lively and colorful gathering as PECIT hosted its much-anticipated Acquaintance Party, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a celebration of unity, leadership, and community spirit. This annual event marked the beginning of a new academic year, fostering camaraderie and introducing the institution’s new student leaders.
The program opened with a solemn prayer, encouraging attendees to reflect on the importance of community and remembrance. This was followed by the national anthem, which stirred feelings of patriotism and solidarity. The Kantaw Chorale then delivered a stirring performance of the PECIT Hymn, showcasing the core values of the institution and setting an emotional tone for the evening.
Director for Academic Affairs, Romeo O. Approvechar, delivered an uplifting opening message emphasizing the importance of balancing academic pursuits with social engagement. “Study and socialization are vital for success,” he said, encouraging students to build lasting friendships and actively participate in school activities. “Let us prove to ourselves that we are a family,” he added, inspiring unity among the attendees.
A key highlight of the event was the induction of the new Student Government (SSG) officers, led by Maria Cecilia Z. Matillano, Executive Vice-President. In her address, Matillano urged the new leaders to serve as role models and to be the voice of positive change within the school. Josephine Zerez Miaga, the newly elected SSG President, followed with an empowering speech, emphasizing the importance of leadership, responsibility, and active contribution to the school community.
One of the most entertaining segments of the night was the Drag Queen Ultimate Battle, where performers showcased their creativity and talent in an animated competition. Frank Garcia emerged as the winner, adding a vibrant and inclusive flair to the evening’s festivities.
The event culminated with the presentation of special awards, including the “Best Dressed” award given to five individuals for their outstanding attire and the crowning of two “Stars of the Night” for their exceptional involvement in school activities.
In her closing remarks, SSG President Miaga thanked all attendees for their participation and encouraged them to stay engaged in future school events.
