PECIT Spreads Holiday Cheer to Butuan City Jail – Female Dormitory

BUTUAN CITY—In the spirit of compassion and service, the Philippine Electronics and Communication Institute of Technology (PECIT) extended its outreach to the Butuan City Jail – Female Dormitory on December 19, 2024, bringing hope and joy through a meaningful gift-giving initiative.

Led by PECIT President Engr. Romeo L. Zerrudo and supported by 11 dedicated staff members, the program aimed to uplift the spirits of 36 female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). With the guidance of Acting Jail Warden SJO4 Florefe M. Badillo, essential items—including groceries worth ₱10,000 and toiletries valued at ₱8,000—were distributed, ensuring the PDLs felt remembered and cared for during the holiday season.

Beyond material support, the initiative fostered warmth and human connection. Smiles and words of gratitude filled the room as the PDLs expressed appreciation for the generosity shown to them. More than receiving supplies, they were reassured that kindness and hope persist even in challenging circumstances.
The event highlighted PECIT’s commitment to holistic education, which extends beyond academic excellence to social responsibility and community service. By engaging in outreach efforts, PECIT instills values of empathy, solidarity, and inclusivity among its students and staff.

“This initiative is more than just a gift-giving event—it is a reminder that everyone deserves kindness, regardless of their circumstances,” said Engr. Zerrudo.

As the holiday season continues, PECIT remains dedicated to fostering meaningful community engagement. Through initiatives like this, the institution reaffirms its mission to make a positive impact—one act of kindness at a time.
