Celebrating 43 Years of PECIT Pride:Where Tradition Meets Innovation

The PECIT community proudly commenced its 43rd Foundation Day with a vibrant celebrationthat blended tradition and innovation. Carrying the theme “43 Years of Transformation: AJourney of Metamorphosis Toward Greater Heights,” the event embodied the institution’senduring commitment to Filipino identity, academic excellence, and cultural pride. The opening day transformed the campus into a lively pasyalan of Filipino heritage. Food stallsoffered authentic local delicacies while karaoke sessions filled the air with timeless OPMclassics, fostering camaraderie and a shared sense of pride. Students showcased their creativityand intellect through a series of academic and artistic competitions, including skirting, fruitcarving, and a Quiz Bowl highlighting Filipino history and global achievements.Traditional skillssuch as fruit carving stood proudly beside modern expressions like Esports, illustrating PECIT’smission to honor cultural heritage while embracing technological progress. Modern competitionssuch as Esports (MLBB Tournament) and Chef Wars added a contemporary flair, symbolizingPECIT’s harmonious balance between technology and creativity. The second day radiated with passion, teamwork, and artistic expression. A colorful Parade ofUnity, led by faculty and students in discipline-themed attire, echoed the spirit of Filipino fiestasas it concluded at the Capitol Covered Court. A Thanksgiving Mass followed, paying tribute tothe institution’s founders and celebrating values of bayanihan (community unity) andpagmamalasakit (compassion). During the keynote addresses, VP Ma. Cecilia Z. Matillano emphasized the importance ofharmonizing innovation with tradition, urging the PECIT community to “shape futures withoutforgetting our roots.” Founder Engr. Romeo Lopez Jaena Zerudo delivered an emotionalretrospective, reflecting on PECIT’s transformation into a beacon of education and progress.The highlight of the day was the Dance Competition: Stories Through Movement, where eachteam creatively depicted meaningful social themes. Team Panther portrayed heritage andenvironmental stewardship, Team Eagles celebrated maternal love and family bonds, whileTeams Coyote and Iguana confronted corruption and resilience. Team Tamaraw championed theupliftment of marginalized communities, and Team Scorpion paid homage to the beauty andpower of nature. These performances reflected not only talent but also PECIT’s dedication tosocial awareness and creative storytelling. Afternoon events celebrated literary and artistic brilliance through Oratorical Contests,Storytelling, and Singing Competitions that showcased students’ eloquence, artistry, and passion.As night fell, the excitement reached new heights with the much-anticipated Ms. PECIT 2025pageant held at the Capitol. Each team proudly presented their stunning candidates whocompeted with grace, intelligence, and confidence in a dazzling display of beauty, brain, andelegance. The event embodied PECIT’s vision of empowering individuals who shine not only inappearance but also in intellect and character. As the festivities concluded, the campus buzzed with anticipation for the grand finale of Day 3.The 43rd Foundation Day not only commemorated decades of growth and transformation butalso ignited a collective vision for the future—one where cultural pride and academic excellencecontinue to propel PECIT toward greater heights.
